NORTH CODORUS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Three law enforcement officers were fatally shot and two others wounded Wednesday afternoon while serving a warrant in York County, Pennsylvania, with the suspect also killed by police, state police commissioner Col. Christopher Paris said, according to details received by The Chenab Times.
The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. in North Codorus Township, following up on a domestic investigation that began Tuesday, Paris stated. The two surviving officers are in critical but stable condition at WellSpan York Hospital.
Eyewitness Dave Miller told NBC affiliate WGAL that he pulled over to let police pass, saw officers near a barn searching for someone, and heard about 30 gunshots. “It was just continuous,” he said.
“There are simply no words I can offer to assuage the grief that this community has experienced,” Paris said. He described the crime scene as large and active but confirmed no further threat to the public. The officers’ department and identities were not released pending investigation.
Governor Josh Shapiro called it a “tragic and devastating day” for York County and the state, ordering flags lowered to half-staff. After meeting the families, he said they expressed pride in their loved ones despite their grief. “This kind of violence isn’t OK. We need to do better as a society,” Shapiro said.
Attorney General Pam Bondi stated the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting. “Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable,” she said. The shooting follows the February 2025 killing of West York Patrolman Andrew W. Duarte in a York County hospital siege.
