Doda, October 21 — Four young Chenabi cricketers from the Chenab Valley districts of Doda and Kishtwar have been named to participate in the inaugural Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL), a T20 tournament set to commence on October 25 at Bakshi Stadium here, organisers confirmed on Tuesday.
The selected players—Mehmood ur Rehman, Saqib Majeed, and Basharat Hussain Wani from Kishtwar district, along with Yawar Ayoub Khan from Doda district—will represent their franchises in what is being billed as Jammu & Kashmir’s premier T20 competition. The league, organised by the Yuva Society, features eight teams and runs until November 7, blending local talent with international stars such as Chris Gayle, Shakib Al Hasan, Martin Guptill, Christopher Mpofu, and Shaun Marsh.
The IHPL adopts a round-robin format, with each team playing five league matches before the top four advance to semi-finals and the final. Backed by the Yuva Society, the event aims to promote youth empowerment and regional sports infrastructure while drawing attention to Kashmir’s cricketing potential.
With the tournament just days away, full team compositions and match schedules are expected to be announced shortly. The selection of these Chenabi players underscores the broadening base of cricket in Jammu & Kashmir.
