Mumin Dar Shines as J&K Police Organises Powerlifting Championship Under CAP

Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kishtwar on Sunday organised a Powerlifting Championship at the District Police Lines (DPL) under the Civic Action Programme (CAP), providing a competitive platform for young athletes from across the district to showcase their strength and sporting talent. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and a large turnout of spectators, reflecting the growing interest in strength sports in the region.

The championship turned into a standout moment for Mumin Dar, who delivered an exceptional performance by securing top positions in both the Junior and Senior categories. His dominance on the platform earned him the highest cash prize of ₹30,000, along with medals, trophies and certificates, marking him as one of the most promising powerlifters from Kishtwar.

In the Sub-Junior category, Dawar Javed claimed first position and was awarded a cash prize of ₹5,000, along with a trophy, medal and certificate. Other participants were also felicitated for their commendable performances, highlighting the depth of emerging talent in the district.

Addressing the athletes, senior police officers emphasized the importance of sports in shaping discipline, character and a positive outlook among youth. They reiterated that initiatives like these aim to channel young energy towards constructive pursuits and away from drugs, crime and other social evils. Powerlifting, they noted, not only builds physical strength but also mental resilience and self-confidence.

In a message on the occasion, SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh said the police force remains committed to promoting sports and healthy activities among the youth. He lauded the enthusiastic participation and urged young people to actively engage in sports while joining the collective fight against drug abuse to build a healthy and progressive society.

The event was attended by senior officers of J&K Police from Kishtwar, including Additional SPs, Dy SPs and other departmental officials, whose presence further encouraged the athletes.
