The editor of Lallantop and India Today Hindi is set to move on from the media group, with internal leadership changes announced for the digital platform.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, Saurabh Dwivedi is set to exit the India Today Group after nearly twelve years, marking the end of a long association that shaped one of the country’s most influential Hindi digital news platforms. Sources within the team indicated that Dwivedi will explore new creative opportunities outside the group.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Dwivedi, who most recently served as editor of Lallantop and India Today Hindi, began his journey within the group as an in-house talent. He joined the organisation as features editor at aajtak.in and later went on to co-create Lallantop, which was positioned as a digital-first Hindi platform aimed at younger audiences.
Under Dwivedi’s editorial leadership, Lallantop grew into a major presence in India’s Hindi digital news ecosystem. The platform currently has nearly 35 million subscribers on YouTube and recorded over 250 million views in the previous month, according to internal data shared with staff. Beyond audience numbers, the platform became known for its conversational presentation style and newsroom practices focused on original reporting and explainer-driven content.
The operations of Lallantop are based in New Delhi, where the digital team has functioned as part of the wider India Today Group’s Hindi news operations. Over the years, the newsroom expanded with a cohort of young journalists who were trained internally and contributed to the platform’s growth across video, social media, and long-form formats.
Following Dwivedi’s departure, editorial responsibility for Team Lallantop will be taken over by Kuldeep Mishra, while Rajat Sain will head the production team. Both Mishra and Sain are founding members of Lallantop and have been associated with the platform since its early stages. Mishra is known to audiences through programmes such as the LT Show and Netanagari, while Sain has overseen several changes in production workflows as the platform scaled up.
Sources said the transition has been communicated internally as a continuity-driven change, with leadership passing to editors who have been closely involved in shaping the platform’s editorial and production identity. No immediate changes to Lallantop’s editorial direction or output have been announced by the management.
Dwivedi’s exit marks one of the more prominent leadership changes in Hindi digital journalism in recent years. While details of his next professional engagement have not been formally disclosed, people familiar with the matter said he is expected to remain active in the media and content space.
The India Today Group has not issued a public statement on the transition at the time of publication.
