The Board announces results of the annual regular examinations amid syllabus relaxation introduced due to academic disruptions caused by delayed sessions and extreme weather conditions.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Wednesday declared the results of the annual regular Class 12 examinations, with around 85 percent of students qualifying across the Union Territory.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education said that nearly 85 percent of the candidates who appeared in the Class 12 examinations have passed.
The announcement of the Class 12 results comes a day after the board declared the annual regular Class 10 examination results, in which about 84 percent of students qualified. The results mark a key academic milestone for students across Jammu and Kashmir following a year marked by disruptions in the academic calendar.
Officials said the results reflect the completion of the annual regular examinations conducted under revised academic conditions. The board had earlier informed that syllabus relaxation measures were implemented for students appearing in the Class 10, 11 and 12 examinations during the current academic cycle.
The Board of School Education had approved a reduction of 15 percent in the syllabus for the annual regular examinations. The decision was taken in view of the delayed commencement of the academic session and multiple interruptions that affected classroom teaching during the year.
In a notification issued earlier, the Director Academics of the board stated that the syllabus relaxation was approved following recommendations from the Directorate of School Education Kashmir and the Directorate of School Education Jammu, along with representations from other stakeholders. The move was aimed at mitigating the impact of academic losses faced by students due to circumstances beyond their control.
The notification cited a range of factors that disrupted the academic calendar, including prolonged heatwave conditions, episodes of torrential rainfall, cloudbursts and floods in several parts of the region. These events led to repeated suspensions of classes and affected the timely completion of the prescribed syllabus.
As per the approved framework, eligible students appearing in the annual regular 2025 examinations in the Kashmir division, winter zone areas of the Jammu division and the Union Territory of Ladakh were required to attempt question papers carrying 85 percent of the total marks. These marks were treated as equivalent to 100 percent, effectively granting a 15 percent relaxation in the syllabus.
Board officials had earlier said that the relaxation was intended to ensure a fair evaluation process for students who faced disruptions during the academic year. The same relaxation applied uniformly to Class 10, 11 and 12 students appearing in the annual regular examinations.
The declaration of the Class 12 results is expected to enable students to proceed with higher education admissions and other academic plans. Officials said further details regarding re-evaluation, supplementary examinations and availability of marksheets would be notified separately by the board through official channels.
