Schools Closed in Parts of Doda Amid Adverse Weather

Doda, March 12: Authorities in Doda district ordered the closure of several schools on Wednesday due to prevailing adverse weather conditions, officials said.

According to an official notice issued by the office of the Chief Education Officer, the decision was taken following directions from the Deputy Commissioner of Doda district to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

The order states that all government and private schools falling under Zonation 4 and Zonation 5 will remain closed on March 12, 2026.

Under Zonation 4, the closure applies to the areas of Bhatyas, Dessa, Topneel, Gundna, and some upper reaches of the Assar zone. Meanwhile, Zonation 5 includes the Bhalessa region, as learnt by The Chenab Times.

Officials directed all concerned authorities and school managements to strictly comply with the order.

The notice, issued by the Chief Education Officer of Doda, was circulated for public awareness through the District Information Centre and shared via WhatsApp at 10:22 AM.

However, the timing of the announcement has raised concerns among parents and residents, as many students and staff would have already left for schools by the time the message was circulated. In such situations, authorities are generally expected to issue closure orders early in the morning or the previous evening to avoid inconvenience and ensure effective communication with schools, parents, and transport operators.
