SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a revised schedule for a planned shutdown of a key transmission line in the Kashmir Valley. The decision impacts power supply to multiple areas and has been deferred due to operational and maintenance requirements.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the 33 KV Kanipora–Pinjoora transmission line shutdown, initially slated for March 31, 2026, has been rescheduled to April 2, 2026. The power interruption is scheduled to occur between 09:00 AM and 03:00 PM on the new date.
The Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, issued the notice informing consumers about the rescheduled shutdown. This deferral is intended to facilitate essential operational and maintenance tasks on the transmission infrastructure. Such maintenance is crucial for ensuring the reliability and stability of the power grid, especially during periods requiring consistent electricity supply.
Residents and businesses in the areas that will be affected by the temporary power suspension have been advised by the power utility to make necessary arrangements. This includes preparing for a period without electricity supply during the specified hours on April 2, 2026. The KPDCL aims to minimize inconvenience to consumers by providing advance notice of the shutdown.
The affected areas are expected to experience a complete suspension of electricity during the six-hour window. The rescheduling of the shutdown suggests a need for careful planning to address technical requirements of the power distribution network. The KPDCL routinely undertakes such maintenance activities to upgrade and repair its infrastructure, ensuring long-term service delivery.
The 33 KV transmission line plays a vital role in distributing electricity across several parts of the Kashmir Valley. Its maintenance is a priority for the KPDCL to prevent potential disruptions and ensure efficient power delivery to a large consumer base. The deferral allows for better logistical arrangements and potentially for more comprehensive maintenance work to be completed.
Consumers in the affected regions are encouraged to monitor official KPDCL announcements for any further updates or changes to the schedule. The corporation relies on consumer cooperation during these essential maintenance periods to carry out its duties effectively and maintain the power supply infrastructure.
