Jammu, March 31: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called upon the youth to foster stronger bonds of brotherhood and prioritize compassion over conflict, emphasizing the interconnectedness of the world and India’s role in promoting peace.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that LG Sinha made these remarks on Tuesday during the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival’ in Jammu. The event was organized by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust.
Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Sinha stated that in an era marked by global strife that fractures societies, India stands as a beacon, illuminating a new path for humanity’s quest for peace. He invoked India’s rich civilizational heritage, highlighting its historical role in spreading knowledge, culture, and spirituality across continents.
Sinha encouraged the youth to embrace their cultural roots, cultivate innovative ideas, and leverage their cultural heritage as a powerful instrument for societal transformation. He underscored the significance of Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural and spiritual treasures in shaping a brighter future for all. He specifically praised the vibrant legacies found in Jammu’s traditions, including Dogri songs that convey life’s values, crafts that embody experiences, and art infused with devotion.
The ‘Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival’ was described as an initiative aimed at preserving rich heritage, recommitting to folk arts and spiritual foundations, strengthening identity, and enlivening the atmosphere with color and melody. The festival also included farmer awareness programs, intended to honor those who nurture the land.
The Lieutenant Governor further articulated that the emerging India has a duty to empower its knowledge economy and to propagate innovations, cultural values, and philosophical ideas globally. He asserted that art and culture possess profound insight, purpose, and craft, which are indispensable for nation-building. For India, he noted, art, spirituality, philosophy, and ethics serve as bridges connecting generations.
Sinha acknowledged the current period as one of the most challenging in modern history but expressed gratitude that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the country and setting new benchmarks in progress and welfare. He described India’s transformation over the past 12 years as extraordinary and urged for collective acceleration of this progress. In the coming decades, he envisioned harnessing new energy and resolve to build technologies and systems that reshape domestic and global industries.
He expressed confidence that India has reclaimed its ancient glory and confidence on international platforms, with Indian engineers, scientists, industrialists, and innovators now steering global discourse and earning worldwide acclaim for their talents. He characterized this period as a renaissance, reviving India’s glorious history.
The ‘Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival’ encompassed a range of activities, including cultural exhibitions, traditional folk performances, a Kisan Mela (farmers’ fair), and a free medical camp. The event also saw the felicitation of distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields. Among the notable attendees were Anant Shri Vibhushit Junapeethadheeshwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Pujyapad Shri Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Members of Legislative Assembly Sham Lal Sharma and Devyani Rana, Mahant Rohit Shastri (President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust), Mukul Kanitkar, Suresh Kumar Sharma (Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board), and Ramesh Kumar (Divisional Commissioner, Jammu).
