Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a towering figure in Indian politics and the first leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hold the office of Prime Minister, was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior. He passed away on August 16, 2018, in New Delhi.
