Three individuals lost their lives in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir when their vehicle veered off the road and plunged down a hill.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the accident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Thub area. The vehicle, identified by its registration number JK14B-1284, was en route from Reasi towards Thub when it skidded off the road near Thub, subsequently rolling down an incline.
Officials confirmed that the mishap resulted in the immediate death of three passengers. The deceased have been identified as Prem Singh, 50, son of Omkar Singh, a resident of Thub; Santosh Devi, 48, wife of Prem Singh, also from Thub; and Durgi Devi, 75, wife of Sarwan, a resident of Jij Bagli. The victims were all inhabitants of the Reasi district.
Following the accident, local authorities and emergency services were dispatched to the scene. An investigation into the exact cause of the accident has been initiated. The bodies have been temporarily kept at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Panassa. Medico-legal formalities are being completed, after which the bodies will be handed over to the bereaved families.
Road accidents, particularly in hilly terrains, remain a significant concern in the Jammu and Kashmir region. Factors such as challenging road conditions, weather, and sometimes speeding contribute to such incidents.
