The 17-year-old son of a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Jammu and Kashmir, who was reported missing, has been traced to Delhi and is being brought back to his home district in Kathua.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the teenager, Aditya Kumar, a Class 11 student, had left for the national capital on Tuesday evening to visit his sister without informing his family. His absence prompted his family to file a missing person report at the local police station.
Following the report, police teams initiated a widespread search operation. Acting on leads developed during the night-long efforts, authorities managed to locate the bus on which Aditya Kumar was travelling to Delhi. Police established contact with the youth and confirmed his well-being. He is currently being escorted back to Jammu.
The MLA, Vijay Kumar, representing Hiranagar constituency, also departed for Delhi upon receiving information about his son’s whereabouts and the progress of the police investigation. The incident highlights the concerns families face when a young member goes missing, especially when travelling without prior notification.
The successful tracing of the teenager by the police is a relief for his family and the local administration. The police department stated that efforts were made to ensure his safe return, emphasizing the coordination between different units to track his movement across the country. The incident, while resolved, underscores the importance of communication between parents and children, particularly regarding travel plans.
