Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes PM Modi’s Remarks on Opposition’s Stance on War

NEW DELHI, March 30: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s accusation that the opposition party had made “dangerous” remarks that could endanger Indians in the Gulf. Gandhi stated that it is inappropriate to politicize the ongoing conflict and questioned the government’s strategy for evacuating citizens from the affected region.

Government’s Evacuation Plan Questioned

According to details received by The Chenab Times, Prime Minister Modi had previously alleged that the Congress party’s statements on the West Asia conflict were perilous and aimed at garnering political advantage, potentially risking the safety of nearly one crore Indians residing in Gulf countries. Addressing reporters in the Parliament House complex, Priyanka Gandhi retorted, “Lives are in danger because bombs are raining from above. What is he doing about that? What is the plan for bringing people out of harm’s way? It is not right to do politics on these things, on war.”

Call for Parliamentary Discussion

Gandhi emphasized a united national front on the issue but stressed the need for addressing the war’s repercussions. She advocated for a parliamentary discussion to allow for the presentation of suggestions and the formulation of solutions. “As this war is continuing, the crises are deepening. Today the gas cylinder has become so expensive that no one is able to buy it. What will happen in future? There will be a shortage of petrol and diesel. So what is the government’s plan to deal with that?” she inquired.

She further noted the government’s assertion that a discussion is necessary to find solutions collectively. The Prime Minister, speaking at an event in Kerala on Sunday, had highlighted the government’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the West Asia conflict on India. He mentioned continuous communication with leaders of affected countries and assured that all nations were prioritizing the safety of stranded Indians.

Diplomatic Efforts and Embassy Support

Prime Minister Modi stated that Indian embassies were operating around the clock to support citizens abroad and that the protection of Indian interests remained the top priority of the BJP-NDA government. He specifically targeted the Congress, pointing out that the party’s statements on this sensitive matter were detrimental, especially given the large Indian diaspora in Gulf countries.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had stated, “Since the beginning of the war, I have been in constant touch with the heads of all these countries. All nations are giving priority to the safety of Indians stranded in the conflict zones.” He also acknowledged the extensive work of Indian embassies in ensuring the well-being of Indian nationals.
