Assam Infiltration, Identity Safeguard, National Security Crucial Issues, Not Just Poll Talking Points: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that infiltration into Assam is a matter of critical national importance, extending beyond the realm of electoral politics to encompass the safeguarding of the state’s identity and overall national security. Addressing BJP booth-level workers virtually ahead of the Assam Assembly polls, the Prime Minister accused the previous Congress governments of permitting illegal land grabbing by infiltrators, which he stated had led to the disruption of local livelihoods and small businesses.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significant improvements in peace and stability in Assam over the past decade, attributing this transformation to the efforts of the BJP’s “double-engine government.” He urged first-time voters to recall the period of instability and alleged “misrule” under the Congress, cautioning that any electoral misstep could potentially revert the state to its past challenges.

Addressing Booth Workers

During the BJP’s ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot Samvaad’ initiative, aimed at direct engagement with party activists, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the necessity for BJP workers to be fully informed about illegal land grabbing cases and the hardships faced by local populations due to the influx of infiltrators. He drew a stark contrast, stating that while the Congress allegedly allowed encroachment, the BJP is actively working to protect the rights of citizens.

The Prime Minister also referenced the signing of 12 peace agreements with various organisations in the Northeast under his government’s tenure. He contrasted this with the Congress’s approach, which he described as signing agreements merely for headline purposes without genuine implementation. Modi recalled an era when Assam was plagued by violence and instability, emphasizing that the current period has witnessed a newfound confidence and peace, largely due to the concerted efforts of the BJP government.

Peace and Development in Northeast

Prime Minister Modi alleged that during Congress rule, peace agreements were disregarded, leading to the alienation and unrest among the youth. He specifically mentioned the Congress’s alleged betrayal of the Bodo cause. In contrast, he stated that the BJP has actively worked to establish peace and secure the future of the region’s youth, with a sincere commitment to implementing peace agreements on the ground. He pointed to the establishment of peace in Bodoland, a region that once experienced curfews and bomb blasts, as a significant model for the country, showcasing a transition from violence to peace and stability.

The Prime Minister also touched upon the rich culture of the Bodo tribal areas, which he claimed had been neglected by the Congress for decades. He expressed satisfaction with the current peaceful environment and the region’s progress. Modi reiterated the collective effort of the party workers towards securing a third consecutive term for the BJP-led NDA government in Assam.

He further advised Assam BJP booth workers to exercise caution regarding AI-generated videos circulating in the state, urging them to inform the public about such misinformation. The Prime Minister also suggested organizing programs where individuals who have renounced violence and joined the mainstream can share their experiences. He highlighted the importance of the NaMo App for BJP members to access information about party initiatives, particularly those focused on women’s empowerment.

Prime Minister Modi asserted that the BJP’s “double-engine government” is the preferred choice for women across India, citing schemes like ‘Orunodoi’ in Assam and the Lakhpati Didi program as examples of its benefits. He encouraged the sharing of success stories of Lakhpati Didis through digital platforms. Additionally, he advised party workers to engage with residents in tea gardens, organizing ‘tiffin meetings’ or ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ to understand their past struggles and aspirations. He underscored that the land rights granted to tea garden workers are intended to secure their future and dignity, while also criticizing the West Bengal government for allegedly hindering central schemes for tea garden workers in that state.
