Students in Ludhiana have conveyed powerful messages concerning legal services, social justice, equality, road safety, child labour, and citizens’ rights through their artwork at a poster-making competition.
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised the event on Friday at the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre, as part of the ongoing ‘legal services week’ which is being observed from November 3 to November 9.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that school students actively participated in the competition, which was designed to foster legal awareness among children and familiarise them with their fundamental rights.
District and Sessions Judge and DLSA chairperson Harpreet Kaur Randhawa attended the competition and commended the students for their creative posters. She offered encouragement to the participants, praising their enthusiasm and artistic skills.
Judge Randhawa stated that such competitions play a crucial role in cultivating a sense of social responsibility and enhancing legal awareness among the student community. She highlighted the importance of these events in shaping informed and responsible citizens.
Certificates were awarded to students who demonstrated exceptional performance in the competition. Arshdeep Kaur was recognised with the first prize, while Bharat Kapoor secured the second position and Meghna claimed the third spot. All three top performers were also presented with trophies for their achievements.
Attendees were also reminded of the toll-free legal aid helpline number, 15100, which can be used to access legal assistance and support services. This initiative aims to ensure that legal help is readily available to those in need.
At the conclusion of the programme, DLSA Secretary Himanshu Arora addressed the gathering, explaining that these activities are intended to extend legal awareness to all segments of society. He emphasised the authority’s commitment to ensuring equal access to justice for every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances.
The competition served as a platform for young minds to engage with critical social and legal issues, promoting a deeper understanding and a commitment to principles of justice and equality within the community.
