Tribune Web Desk

Chandigarh, November 16

A video that was posted two days back has gone viral on social media. It’s of a horrifying avalanche on a mountain in Nepal. In the video, you can see snow being blown from the mountain crest and suddenly in a fraction of seconds the beautiful scene is all about rapidly sliding downwards, creating a havoc. This avalanche happened in the Mustang district of Nepal.

As the footage gets shaky, one can hear people screaming and some are seen running to save themselves as the high-speed avalanche flows downward like a river of icy cement.

Watch the video:

The person who made this video had focused his camera towards the mountain summit but as the snow comes hurtling down, the person seems to run for his safety since the footage gets shaky after the first few seconds.

The snow slide is said to have continued for 30 minutes and rolled over a school. According to NDTV, 11 persons including seven students were injured in the incident. The report says there were no human causalities. It further adds, “The avalanche erupted from Tukuche Mountain and blew downslope over Janadarsha Amarsingh High School while classes were underway.”

The Himalayas are home of the largest natural avalanches. But this one that occurred on Sunday is said to be the biggest ever in the area.
