Cases high, UK aims for ‘Jabby New Year’

London, December 29

The head of UK’s Covid vaccination programme said on Wednesday that the National Health Service (NHS) was contacting thousands of people with an aim to urge them to book a booster vaccine and have a “Jabby New Year” as the country recorded another 1,29,471 Covid cases.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson told reporters during a visit to a vaccination centre in London on Wednesday that the Omicron variant continued to cause problems but all signs indicated that it was milder than the previously dominant Delta variant of Covid-19. — PTI
