In a noteworthy development, the National Conference (NC) has designated Qamar Ali Akhoon, a senior leader hailing from Kargil, Ladakh, and a former Cabinet Minister, as the party’s Additional General Secretary. This marks a significant moment especially in the Ladakh region.
Qamar Ali Akhoon boasts a longstanding association with the National Conference, spanning several decades. His impressive political career includes representing the Kargil constituency and serving as a Cabinet Minister during the tenure of the Omar Abdullah-led government in the former state of Jammu and Kashmir. He has also held the influential role of Advisor to the then Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
Adding to his list of accomplishments, Akhoon served as the inaugural Chief Executive Councillor for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in Kargil back in 2002.
