Ladakh Police Seize Heroin-Like Substance at Leh Airport, One Held

Leh, Ladakh – The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Ladakh has seized a heroin-like substance at Leh Airport, leading to the apprehension of one individual. The substance was detected being transported via unsuspecting air passengers.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Director General of Police, Ladakh, announced the successful seizure. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 3.5 grams of a substance identified as heroin-like from a passenger at Leh Airport.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohd Hussain, a resident of Diskit. An FIR, number 19/2026, has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case is now under investigation by the authorities.

The Director General of Police also issued an advisory to the public, urging them to exercise caution and refrain from carrying parcels for unknown individuals. This measure is intended to prevent individuals from inadvertently becoming conduits for illicit drug trafficking.

The ANTF has been actively working to curb the flow of narcotics into the Union Territory of Ladakh. This recent seizure highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related activities and maintain law and order.

Leh Airport, being a key entry and exit point for the region, is often a target for individuals attempting to smuggle contraband. Security personnel at the airport are on high alert to detect and prevent such illegal activities.

The seizure of the heroin-like substance is part of a larger crackdown on drug trafficking networks that may be operating in and around Ladakh. Authorities are committed to dismantling these operations and bringing those involved to justice.

Further investigations are underway to ascertain the origin of the seized substance and to determine if it is connected to any larger drug syndicates. The police department has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the region by taking stringent measures against drug peddlers and traffickers.

The incident serves as a reminder of the persistent threat posed by narcotics and the importance of public cooperation in combating drug abuse. The police encourage citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to the authorities promptly.
