What Counts as User-Generated Content
User-generated content includes, but is not limited to:
- guest articles or opinion pieces
- reader-submitted reports, photographs, or videos
- comments, tips, or story suggestions
- material submitted through “Submit Your Article/News” or similar features
Editorial Review and Standards
All user-generated content undergoes editorial screening before publication.
- Submission does not guarantee publication.
- Editors may request revisions, clarifications, or additional sourcing.
- Content may be edited for clarity, length, style, factual accuracy, and legal or ethical considerations.
- The Chenab Times reserves the right to reject or remove content that does not meet editorial standards.
UGC is evaluated under the same principles of accuracy, fairness, and responsibility outlined in our Editorial, Ethics, and Fact-Checking policies.
Originality and Responsibility
By submitting content, contributors confirm that:
- the material is original and created by them,
- it does not infringe on copyright, privacy, or other legal rights,
- it is not defamatory, misleading, or deliberately false.
Contributors are responsible for the claims they make. Where necessary, editors may seek supporting evidence or documentation.
Attribution and Credits
Contributors are credited by name unless anonymity is approved for safety or legal reasons.
The Chenab Times may apply desk attribution where content is substantially edited or compiled.
Use, Editing, and Distribution Rights
By submitting user-generated content, contributors grant The Chenab Times a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- publish, display, and distribute the content on its platforms,
- edit or adapt the content for clarity, format, or editorial consistency,
- republish the content across The Chenab Times network or partner platforms for journalistic purposes.
Contributors retain ownership of their original work unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Removal and Complaints
The Chenab Times reserves the right to remove user-generated content if:
- it violates editorial or ethical standards,
- credible legal or factual concerns arise,
- it breaches community guidelines or applicable law.
Complaints regarding user-generated content are reviewed by the editorial team and addressed in line with our Correction Policy.
No Payment or Promotional Submissions
User-generated content is not a paid service.
Submissions intended primarily for promotion, advertising, personal branding, or undisclosed advocacy are not accepted as editorial content.
Transparency to Readers
User-generated content is clearly identified as such where relevant. Readers should interpret such content as independently submitted material reviewed and published under editorial oversight.
