Thathri: 2017 Cloudburst victims to get relief after 3 years
A cloudburst on interviewing night of 19-20 July 2017, destroyed six lives including some minors and loss of property worth crores occurred.
The affected families requested many times to administration through applications and letters but no one responded them. One 8 February, 2019, two years after the incident, The Chenab Times correspondent reported the demand of the victims but no one listened. In that report, they were demanding the footbridge over the nallah which was destroyed due to cloudburst.
From past two days, Chairman Municipal Committee Thathri Mansoor Ahmed Bhat, started the cleaning working of the nallah.
Talking to media, he said, "We have requested NHIDCL to clear the debris from the NH bridge. But they didn’t worked on this."
"Now Municipal Committee Thathri chaired a meeting regarding this issue and we have started the process of clearing the debris." he added.
On footbridge question, he replied, "The footbridge will be built after some days when the debris will be cleared from the nallah."
