At a time when the world is battling the deadliest infectious disease, the corona virus, and desperate efforts are being made to ensure that medical facilities, doctors, and medical staff are everywhere, so that To break the growing corona virus chain.
But Drabshala tehsil of Kishtwar district seems to be an area of another planet at present where hospitals and medical facilities are not available. And every day hundreds of patients have to suffer at home or have their health pledged to untrained doctors.
With a population of over 20,000, the tehsil consists of dozens of panchayats, and hundreds of villages, most of which are located at the foot of remote and rocky mountains.
But surprisingly, even after 72 years of India’s independence from British slavery, no hospital was established here.
The majority of the population of this tehsil is poor and laborers. In every coming era, politicians go away after getting their votes. And these simple-blooded people are helpless whether they die or not. And in case of illness, they either fall prey to looting of untrained doctors or spend thousands of rupees and go to District Hospital Kishtwar or Sub-District Hospital Thathri.
Surprisingly, the headquarter of this tehsil is located right in the middle of Batote-Kishtwar National Highway and it is very easy to set up a hospital here.
Due to the negligence of the authorities and leaders, hundreds of people go to the valley of death every year due to non-receipt of timely medical aid.
Some primary health centers have been set up in many panchayats of the tehsil, but due to lack of staff, unavailability of buildings and shortage of medicines, their presence or absence becomes almost equal.
Given the situation caused by the corona virus, it is even more important to have a government hospital in the area, as poor people are forced to turn to Kishtwar or Thathri for treatment, but due to the lockdown. The situation has become even more difficult.
Various Social workers and locals of Drabshala Tehsil demanded the administration to set up at least one sub-district hospital in Tehsil headquarters to facilitate the poor so that justice is done to the poor. They will be forced to take to the streets.
