Shri Udhayabaskar Billa, (IPS), DIG of Police, DKR Range, conducted an extended tour of District Kishtwar from 8.6.2021 to 13.6.2021, in order to examine the District’s security scenario and preparations in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic. A Guard of Honour was provided to the DIG of Police upon his arrival at DPL Kishtwar on 8.6.2021, and the officer afterwards held a Darbar of Jawans in accordance with covid protocals. During Darbar, the officer patiently listened to the difficulties made by the jawans and told them that their demands would be met. The DIG of Police also spoke at the event, praising the District Police Kishtwar’s participation in the Covid-19 Pandemic, as well as on the law and order and militancy fronts. In his address, the officer emphasised to the jawans that the general public should be respected and given first priority, that good police-public relations should be established, that no complaints against police should be expected from the public, and that police should work on a realistic basis for the welfare of the general public.
Later, the officer went to the District Police Office in Kishtwar, where Shri Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, SSP Kishtwar, gave a detailed presentation about the district’s security situation and briefed the officer on the current situation, including anti-terrorist operations, maintaining law and order, and implementing government guidelines to contain the pandemic. Addl. SP Kishtwar Sh. Rajinder Singh, SO DIG DKR Range Sh. Tousif Ahmed, Dy. SP Hqrs Sh. Devinder Singh, SDPO Atholi Sh. Pardeep Sen, and Dy. SP DAR Sh. Dhreej Singh were also in attendance at the meeting. The Officer also examined the open Gym site at TRC Kishtwar, and provided the appropriate information on its upkeep to the employees.
On 9.6.2021, the DIG of Police, DKR Range, accompanied by SSP Kishtwar Shri Shafqat Hussain, JKPS, and SO to the DIG Sh. Tousif Ahmed, visited P/S Chatroo and reviewed its operations, as well as holding a Darbar of Jawans and hearing their grievances. A joint Naka established at Chingam (Tikri) PS Chatroo was also examined and reviewed by the officer, who also gave the personnel a necessary briefing on effective checking/precautions in the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic. In addition, the path leading to Sinthan top was inspected and security measures were examined. The Officer also paid visits to Army and police units in the area during his visit.
The DIG of Police, accompanied by SSP Kishtwar and SO to DIG Sh. Tousif Ahmed, SDPO Atholi, paid a visit to P/S Atholi and reviewed its operations on 10.6.2021. To address their issues, a Darbar of Jawans was held. Later, a PCPG meeting with notable inhabitants of the area was convened, during which many topics pertaining to Machail Yatra 2021 and other general issues of the area were raised/discussed with the attendees, who were told that their issues will be addressed. The officer went to Machail on foot the next day, accompanied by SSP Kishtwar and SO to DIG Sh. Tousif Ahmed SDPO Atholi, and interacted with the locals of villages Chasoti and Hamori. When the officer arrived in Machail, he held a Darbar of Jawans stationed at Police Post Machail. The security measures for Shri Machail yatra 2021 were discussed with significant people, members of Sanatan Dharam shaba, and Machail yatra committee administration, who all pledged their complete cooperation to make the yatra smooth and peaceful.
On 13.06.2021, after arriving at District Hqrs Kiahtwar, a conference with significant inhabitants of Kishtwar town was held. Various suggestions/issues were expressed by the participants throughout the conference. The officer listened to the participants patiently and told them that their demands would be met, as well as asking them to work with the police for the benefit of society in the District. Following that, the meeting was adjourned with a vote of appreciation and assurances that future meetings will be convened at regular intervals. Finally, while returning to Drabshallah, a Model Naka paid a visit and assessed the security.
The general public from the District’s remote/far-flung areas appreciated the visit and expressed their hope that their grievances would be addressed as soon as possible. They also requested that the officer make another such visit in the near future.
