Secretary JK Sports Council ‘attacked’, suffers injuries; ‘Girl arrested’

Incident draws flak from athletes; Girl arrested, FIR lodged against her, investigations set in motion, says Police

On Wednesday, a girl claiming to be a Martial Art specialist used her skills on the Secretary of the J&K Sports Council in her office chamber, injuring her.

The girl entered the office of the Secretary of Sports with her mobile camera on and attempted to make a video, according to the sports council officials present at the time of the event, as per Kashmir-based news agency KNO.

“When the secretary of the sports council asked why she was recording the video, the girl used some martial art methods and choked the secretary madam, catching her by her neck,” witnesses stated, adding that the Secretary felt strangulated and acquired bruises on her face and neck.

An official present at the time of the event said it was difficult to free the Secretary of the Sports Council from the girl’s grip because she was unwilling to let go.

“The way the girl got hold of her neck, it looked like Secretary Sports Council was going to die,” he claimed.

When the CT’s sources attempted to contact with the secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council about the event, she sent a text message saying, “I am not able to speak at the moment my neck is throbbing horribly and she was writhing in pain.”

Previously, a video of the girl who attacked the Secretary Sports Council went viral, in which she was seen stating that members of the sports council were “taking bribes for certificate verification.”

While criticising the girl’s actions, many martial arts organisations and players noted, “Sports teach discipline, and an athlete must be polite and calm.”

Talking exclusively to Chenab Times on this issue, prominent athelete and International Coach and Referee Atul Pangotra said, “I have never seen any incident like this in my 35 years old career, that a self-styled international player attacked the Sports Council official. I strongly condemn this incident. The Sports Council Secretary always stood by real sports people and promoted sports genuinely throughout the UT. “

Meanwhile, police authorities told Kashmir-based news agency KNO that a case has been filed against him, and the girl has been apprehended under FIR No 83 of 2021, Section 332 of the Indian Penal Code.

“The case is being investigated, and the girl has been arrested at the Srinagar Women’s Police Station,” a police officer said.
