On Thursday, BJP MP Varun Gandhi tweeted a video demanding justice for the farmers mowed down by the minister’s SUV in Lakhimpur Kheri.
A cleaner, longer video footage from Sunday’s violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, has surfaced, showing a black SUV ploughing into a gathering of demonstrators at great speed. A black Mahindra Thar, joined by two other SUVs, runs over the demonstrators from behind in the 37-second video clip.
The footage also contradicts Ajay Mishra Teni, the Minister of State for Home, who has publicly admitted that his family’s Mahindra Thar was attacked. Teni claimed on Wednesday that his son Ashish Mishra was not in the SUV, despite the fact that it belonged to his family. He further claimed that the car lost control after being attacked by demonstrators, and that the driver then lost control, killing the farmers.
The truth of the video or the sequence of events that led to the violence and subsequent fatalities of eight individuals in the UP district on Sunday could not be independently verified by FinancialExpress.com.

The Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a one-member Commission to probe the incident. “A notification for the constitution of the Commission has been issued. The commission has been given two months time to probe the matter,” a senior Home Department official said on Thursday.
