Three Found Dead in Bhaderwah Guest House, Asphyxiation Suspected

Bhaderwah (Doda): Three men were found dead under suspicious circumstances in a guest house in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district late Wednesday night, police and official sources confirmed to The Chenab Times.

The deceased, identified as Mukesh Kumar, Ashutosh, and Sunny Choudhary, were all residents of Jammu. Their bodies were discovered in a room at the Royal Inn guest house in Bhaderwah, officials said.

Preliminary investigations suggest the men died due to asphyxiation, with a charcoal heater found in their room being the likely cause. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after forensic analysis, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta, told The Chenab Times.

The discovery was made after a man reported his brother, one of the deceased, was not responding to calls. Police tracked the location of the missing person’s mobile phone and traced it to the guest house, where a team found the trio unresponsive behind a locked door. After breaking it open, doctors and forensic experts were summoned, but the men were declared dead at the scene.

“Initial findings indicate asphyxiation due to the charcoal heater inside the room, but further investigations are underway,” SSP Mehta said.

The use of charcoal heaters, especially in enclosed spaces, is known to pose a significant risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Police have not ruled out other possibilities and are awaiting forensic reports for confirmation.

The incident has left residents of the usually tranquil Bhaderwah area in shock. The investigation continues.
