J&K Services Selection Board Announces Recruitment for 75 Naib Tehsildar Posts

Jammu, June 9 – The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued Advertisement Notification No. 05 of 2025, dated June 9, 2025, inviting online applications for 75 Naib Tehsildar posts in the Revenue Department of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This recruitment drive, initiated following an indent from the Revenue Department, offers a significant opportunity for eligible candidates to join the administrative cadre at Pay Level-6E (Rs 35,900–Rs 1,13,500).

Recruitment Details and Application Process

The JKSSB has outlined a clear timeline for the recruitment process. Online applications will be accepted from June 16, 2025, to July 15, 2025, exclusively through the JKSSB’s online portal, details of which will be available on www.jkssb.nic.in. The application fee is Rs 600 for general category candidates and Rs 500 for those from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST-1 and ST-2), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Payments must be made online via net banking, credit, or debit cards. Excess payments, if any, can be refunded only by contacting naibtehsildar2025@gmail.com, and no chargeback requests will be entertained.

Eligibility Criteria

Domicile Requirement: Candidates must be domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir and possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority by July 15, 2025.

Age Limit: As of January 1, 2025, the maximum age for Open Merit (OM) candidates and those in government service or contractual employment is 40 years (born between January 1, 1985, and January 1, 2007). For SC, ST-1, ST-2, Residents of Backward Areas (RBA), Other Backward Classes (OBC), EWS, and ALC/IB categories, the limit is 43 years (born between January 1, 1982, and January 1, 2007). Physically Challenged Persons have a limit of 42 years (born between January 1, 1983, and January 1, 2007), while Ex-Servicemen can be up to 48 years (born between January 1, 1977, and January 1, 2007).

Educational Qualification: As per Annexure-A, candidates must hold a graduate degree with knowledge of Urdu. Those claiming equivalent qualifications must provide an Equivalence Certificate from the competent authority. Original certificates must be produced during Document Verification (DV), and failure to do so by the cut-off date will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Reservation and Special Provisions

The recruitment follows the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules, with category-wise vacancy details provided in Annexure-A. Candidates applying under reserved categories (SC, ST-1, ST-2, OBC, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen) must upload valid category certificates during application submission. No further document submission opportunities will be provided, and fraudulent claims will result in debarment and potential legal action.

Horizontal reservations apply for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and PwBD candidates as per extant rules. ESM candidates must submit an affidavit confirming they have not previously availed horizontal reservation benefits and provide a Certificate in Form-XIV. PwBD candidates may opt for a scribe and/or compensatory time (20 minutes per hour) by submitting a Certificate of Physical Limitation (Annexure-B) and a Letter of Undertaking for Using Own Scribe (Annexure-C). Scribes must not be candidates for the same exam, must have a lower educational qualification than the candidate, and must provide valid ID proof.

Examination Structure and Syllabus

The selection process consists of two compulsory papers, with no oral test or interview, as per S.O. 36 of 2025, dated February 14, 2025.

Paper-I: Written Examination

  • Format: Objective Type, Multiple-Choice Questions
  • Marks: 120
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer
  • Qualifying Marks: Open Merit candidates need 20%, while other categories require 15% to proceed to Paper-II.

  1. Reading Section (20 Marks):
  • Questions based on given passages, each carrying one mark.
  1. Writing Section (30 Marks):
  • Letter Writing (minimum 100 words on a given situation) – 10 marks
  • Translation of one English passage to Urdu or vice versa – 10 marks
  • Essay (about 100 words on a socially relevant topic) – 10 marks

Examination and Document Verification

Examination dates and venues will be notified on www.jkssb.nic.in. Admit cards, downloadable a week prior, must be accompanied by two recent passport-size photographs (not older than six months) and a valid photo ID (e.g., Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport). Application details must match the Matriculation Certificate to avoid disqualification.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo Document Verification, requiring original and self-attested copies of qualifications, Domicile Certificate, category certificates, and other documents. Failure to produce these by July 15, 2025, will result in disqualification. No TA/DA will be provided for the written test or DV.

Fairness and Transparency

The JKSSB has emphasized stringent measures against malpractice, with debarment and legal action for any irregularities. Candidates are urged to apply early to avoid technical glitches and to verify all entries, as no modifications will be allowed post-submission. Multiple applications for the same post will lead to only the latest being considered, with further attempts resulting in disqualification.

Instructions for Candidates

Candidates must clearly indicate their preferred post and cadre, as changes will not be permitted. In-service candidates must submit applications through their Head of Department by the DV deadline. The JKSSB’s decisions on eligibility, selection, and examination conduct are final.
