Bijbehara, 15 June — Ten people sustained injuries in a road accident that took place during the intervening night near Fruit Mandi Jablipora, along the National Highway in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.
According to a police official, the accident occurred when a Tavera vehicle, bearing registration number JK14B-9328, lost control and crashed into a road divider. All passengers travelling in the vehicle sustained injuries in the incident.
The injured were initially shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara for first-aid and primary medical assistance. Subsequently, they were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for specialised treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable, the official added.
The police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated further investigation.
The mishap has once again drawn attention to the issue of road safety and adherence to traffic norms, especially along high-speed corridors of the Valley.
