Government Forms Informal Ministerial Group to Address West Asia Conflict Impact

New Delhi: The Union government has established an informal group of ministers (IGOM) to assess and address issues arising from the ongoing West Asia conflict, sources confirmed on Friday.

The Chenab Times has learned that the group is chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Hardeep Singh Puri are also part of this ministerial panel.

The formation of the IGOM comes amid growing concerns over the wider implications of the conflict in West Asia, which began after hostilities escalated in the region. The protracted conflict has led to significant disruptions in global trade and energy markets, with direct repercussions for India’s economy and its citizens.

The conflict, which has now entered its fourth week, has seen a substantial impact on international oil and gas prices. These fluctuations have a cascading effect on the cost of living and the operational costs for businesses across India, necessitating a coordinated governmental response to mitigate potential economic fallout.

Sources indicated that the group’s mandate includes monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia and formulating strategies to manage any adverse economic consequences for the country. The deliberations are expected to focus on safeguarding national economic interests and ensuring the stability of essential supplies.
