Uttar Pradesh is gearing up to distribute 50 million national flags across the state as part of the intensified ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The initiative aims to foster a sense of national pride and encourage widespread participation in the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The Chenab Times has learned that the state administration has set an ambitious target to ensure that every household in Uttar Pradesh displays the tricolour between August 13 and August 15. This massive undertaking involves coordination across various government departments and local administrative bodies to procure, manage, and distribute the flags effectively.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stressed that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign should transcend a mere governmental exercise and evolve into a genuine people’s movement. He has called for active engagement from citizens, community leaders, and local organisations to ensure the campaign’s success and make it a truly inclusive national endeavour.
Further reinforcing the patriotic fervour, the Chief Minister has mandated the mandatory screening of the National Song and the National Anthem in all cinema halls across Uttar Pradesh on August 14 and August 15. This directive is intended to immerse the public in a shared experience of national reverence during the crucial days leading up to and including Independence Day.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative, launched previously, aims to encourage citizens to hoist the national flag in their homes. It is part of the broader Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of India’s independence. The campaign seeks to strengthen the personal bond between citizens and the flag, symbolizing national identity and unity.
The logistics of distributing 50 million flags are complex, requiring efficient planning and execution. State officials are reportedly working on a phased distribution plan, with flags being made available through local authorities, post offices, and designated community centres. The effort also involves engaging self-help groups and small-scale manufacturers to support the production, thereby promoting local economies.
The directive for screening the National Song and Anthem in cinemas is expected to be implemented by the state’s Information Department, which will liaise with theatre owners. This measure is designed to create a unifying atmosphere and remind audiences of the sacrifices made for the nation’s freedom.
The campaign’s success relies heavily on public participation. Awareness drives are being planned to inform citizens about the significance of the flag and the campaign. Local bodies are expected to play a crucial role in mobilising communities and ensuring that the flags reach even remote areas of the state.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s proactive approach to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign underscores its commitment to fostering nationalistic sentiments among its populace. By setting a target of 50 million flags and mandating patriotic screenings, the state aims to create a pervasive atmosphere of national pride as India approaches its significant milestones.
The distribution of flags will be closely monitored to ensure equitable access and to prevent any potential misuse or disrespect towards the national symbol. Government advisories regarding the proper handling and display of the flag are also being disseminated as part of the awareness campaign.
The success of such large-scale campaigns is often measured by the visible participation of citizens. The state administration is hopeful that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign will witness unprecedented enthusiasm and a collective display of patriotism across Uttar Pradesh.
In addition to the flag distribution, various other cultural and patriotic events are anticipated to be organized across the state in the run-up to Independence Day, further amplifying the spirit of national celebration and unity.
The objective is to ensure that every citizen feels a direct connection to the nation’s history and future, with the flag serving as a potent symbol of this shared identity. The extensive distribution plan and the mandated screenings are key components of this strategy.
