The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi has recorded a significant influx of applications, with over 62,000 individuals submitting fresh requests for inclusion in the voter list within a 15-day period. This surge brings the total number of Form 6 applications received to 274,983, according to the latest data released by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the period from August 31 to September 15 witnessed the submission of 62,583 new Form 6 applications. During this timeframe, West Delhi district emerged as the area with the highest number of applications for new voter registrations, reporting 7,834 submissions. This was followed by North West Delhi with 6,384 applications, East Delhi with 6,297, and South East Delhi with 6,250. New Delhi district registered the lowest number of fresh inclusions, with 1,203 applications.
Beyond new registrations, the revision process also encompasses applications for claims and objections, primarily relating to the deletion of names from the electoral roll. During the aforementioned 15-day period, 812 applications under Form 7 were received, contributing to a cumulative total of 52,283 such applications so far. These forms are crucial for individuals seeking to remove names from the voter list, either due to relocation or other reasons.
Further details from the CEO’s office revealed that 131 fresh applications under Form 6A were submitted, raising the cumulative figure for this category to 1,482. Form 6A is typically used by overseas electors for the inclusion of their names in the electoral roll. Additionally, 20,289 applications under Form 8 were received within the 15-day window, bringing the total for this form to 281,057. Form 8 is utilized for requests concerning the modification of existing electoral roll entries, including the correction of details or the shifting of an elector’s address within the constituency.
Breaking down the district-wise data for claims and objections, East Delhi reported the highest number of fresh Form 7 applications, with 107 submissions. In contrast, North East Delhi saw the highest number of fresh Form 8 applications, totaling 2,426. These figures highlight the localized engagement with the revision process across the various districts of the National Capital Territory.
The window for submitting claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls commenced on August 31 and is scheduled to conclude on September 30. The draft electoral roll was made public on August 31, and it is accessible to citizens on the Chief Electoral Officer’s official website, as well as at all designated polling stations across the city. This availability allows voters to cross-verify their details and ensure accuracy in the records.
The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has urged all registered voters in Delhi to diligently check their names in the recently published draft electoral roll. For individuals whose names might be missing or incorrectly recorded, the process involves submitting a Form 6 application, accompanied by the necessary declarations and supporting documentation. Furthermore, the revision process also accommodates applications from individuals who will attain the age of 18 years on or before October 1, 2026, allowing them to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll in anticipation of future eligibility.
All claims and objections that are received by the stipulated deadline of September 30 will be processed and disposed of by October 29. Following this comprehensive review and consolidation, the final electoral roll for Delhi is slated for publication on November 4. This systematic approach ensures that the electoral roll remains an accurate and up-to-date reflection of the eligible voting population.
