#JusticeForDilshada

This is the story of Dilshada who is missing since 8 years from her in-laws home.

This story starts ten years ago, when a family from Chamoti panchayat of Kishtwar district having five daughters and parents were happy and out of five, four daughters were married. Dilshada was the youngest daughter. She was different from others. According to her family, she was so much innocent that she didn’t talk properly to anyone. Even she don’t know how to use mobile phone.

“I told her learn to use the phone, but she always replied that this is a sin… What will be the difference between me and other girls if I do same like using phone, watching Tv, talking unnecessarily… it is the sin. This was her answer always and her innocence was guaranteed by everyone,” says her mother Nagina Begum.

On 13 May 2012, her marriage was arranged and she was very happy but after 18 days, the family received the news that she is now missing from her in-laws home on 2 June 2012. Her in-laws said that she went to bathroom and suddenly she went missing from the bathroom, claiming that “the Jin took her from the bathroom.”

On 18 November 2018, her father Mohd Sharief Sheikh searching her for the years lost his hope and passed away without completing his last wish that he wanted to see her daughter once.

According to case investigation by Chenab Times’ senior journalist Mohammed Ashfaq the father of Dilshada did so much struggle in which he had sent a ‘request for investigation’ letter to Governor and Prime Minister of India, because police didn’t even filed an FIR properly.

“There was no response from anyone and police did not act properly, family was just told that the case will be sort out but nothing happens even though a single FIR was not lodged properly,” says journalist Mohammed Ashfaq, who investigated this case.

“I have contacted SHO Kishtwar, but he said that SHOs are not allowed to talk on these issues. After I called SSP Kishtwar, he told me that he will investigate the case but still nothing happens,” he added.

The family accused her in-laws for selling their daughter but police is not responding them at all. Even they have approached various local political personalities but they also bypasses the issue. According to Nagina Begum who is the mother of Dilshada, “Everyone ignores this case just like they supporters of them [in-laws], I just can only pray for my daughter and I just want to see her once before my death. Even if she is dead, I want to that too, but please say me where is my daughter,” says while crying for justice.
