A massive fire engulfs opposite SDM Office Thathri in Doda district on Thursday.
As per the Chenab Times correspondent reporting from the spot, the fire incident started at the R&B PwD store, which is located opposite the Sub Divisional Magistrate Office Thathri and slowly it turned the store shed into ashes along with the Municipality Toilet Complex.
SDM Thathri Athar Amin Zargar said that the fire tenders were called from Gandoh, Doda and Kishtwar.
The fire and emergency team, under the supervision of Girdhari Lal Pandita, Deputy director of Fire & Emergency services, used his equipment and men-power to control the fire in Thathri. As soon as the fire incident took place, fire fighters from Thathri, Doda, Kishtwar and Ghat rushed towards the site.
Ababeel volunteers, police, SSB Jawans and locals were also on the spot, who collectively used their efforts to control the fire.
Pertinent to mention, a government school building was also feet away from the spot, but timely efforts by locals, Jal Shakti daily wager employees and the fire & emergency department, who arranged water directly from the river Chenab after one fire tender turned out of water. After a long operation, the fire was brought under control and two government buildings were damaged in this fire incident. However, no life loss has been reported.
