Ludhiana district has undertaken a substantial revision of its electoral roll, with approximately 3.39 lakh voters deleted from the final list for the 2026 electoral process. This represents a nearly 13 per cent decrease in the electorate when compared to the figures from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the final voter list has been made accessible on the official website of the district administration, www.ludhiana.nic.in. Electors have been advised to check their names and associated particulars online or to reach out to their respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for detailed information regarding their registration status.
According to the revised electoral rolls, Ludhiana district currently has a total of 23,44,070 registered voters. This includes 12,16,462 male voters, 11,27,537 female voters, and 71 voters identifying as third gender. Additionally, the district registers 471 Non-Resident Indian (NRI) electors.
The district has established 3,031 polling stations, strategically divided between urban and rural areas. Of these, 1,528 polling stations are located in urban settings, while the remaining 1,503 are situated in rural areas, ensuring broad accessibility for voters across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties on Monday. During this meeting, the final electoral roll was formally handed over to them, providing transparency and access to the updated voter data for electoral stakeholders.
Malerkotla and Amargarh Electoral Rolls Finalized
In parallel developments, the final electoral rolls for the Assembly constituencies of 105-Malerkotla and 106-Amargarh, located within Malerkotla district, have also been released. These revisions were conducted under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 initiative and were presented to political party representatives on Tuesday.
The revision process was overseen by Roll Observer Gurpreet Singh Khaira, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, who reviewed the updates during his third visit to the district. The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Viraj S Tidke, was also present during these proceedings, ensuring adherence to electoral guidelines.
The draft electoral roll, which was published on August 13, 2026, initially listed 3,06,653 registered voters across both constituencies. Following a comprehensive process for claims and objections, 7,970 new voters were successfully added to the rolls, while 781 were removed. This resulted in a final registered voter count of 3,13,842 for the two constituencies.
The finalized roll for Malerkotla and Amargarh comprises 1,63,198 male voters and 1,50,638 female voters. Additionally, six voters identifying as third gender are included in this count. The revision process has been meticulously completed across all 406 polling booths spread throughout the district, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the electoral data.
The Malerkotla Assembly constituency alone accounts for 1,55,751 registered voters distributed across 206 polling booths. The Amargarh constituency has a slightly larger number of registered voters, totaling 1,58,091, spread across 200 polling parts. The entire revision exercise has been concluded across all polling stations, ensuring the integrity of the electoral database for upcoming elections.
Voter Verification Urged Across Districts
Both the Ludhiana and Malerkotla administrations have issued public appeals, strongly urging citizens and voters to meticulously verify their names and all associated details within the newly released final electoral rolls. This proactive measure aims to prevent any potential discrepancies or disenfranchisement.
Citizens can conveniently access and check the electoral rolls through the Election Commission of India’s official portal, voters.eci.gov.in. Alternatively, the Voter Helpline App provides a user-friendly platform for checking names, applying for fresh voter registration, or initiating corrections to existing voter information. The authorities emphasize the importance of individuals taking personal responsibility to ensure their electoral data is accurate and up-to-date.
