Youth Congress has decided to launch the ‘Rozgar Do’ campaign to raise the voice of the unemployed youth across the country, starting 9th August, 2020
The condition of the economy has worsened due to the wrong economic policies of the present government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, due to which crores of youth have lost their employments. India is the youngest country in the world and with the maximum numbers of employable youth, so employment stands as the most important need of the country.
This is why the Indian Youth Congress has decided to launch the ‘Rozgar Do’ campaign to raise the voice of the unemployed youth across the country, starting 9th August, 2020 under the leadership of IYC National President Shri Srinivas B.V. The main objective of the campaign is to raise the voice of the youth with regard to unemployment, from the National Level in Delhi to district, tehsil and village level so that the youth unites itself and forces the government to generate employment.
Srinivas B.V., the National President of the Indian Youth Congress said, “Today, over 30 crore employable youth in India are unemployed and are committing suicide everyday due to the ever-rising levels of unemployment. Sadly, the Central Government has completely ignored the voice of the youth.” The government came to power by promising jobs to 2 crore people every year. Accordingly, 12 crore people should have received employment in the past 6 years, in contrast, due to the mismanagement of Covid-19 and the apathy of the government towards the younger generation and unregulated sectors, at least 12 crore people have lost their jobs so far. Keeping this in mind, the Youth Congress will raise its voices against this government apathy at the district and assembly levels. ‘
Further, the central government is constantly snatching employment opportunities from the younger generation of this country by continuously privatizing railways and other government undertakings and selling them to private companies. Millions of government posts have fallen vacant in various departments of the Central government and instead of filling them, the government is doing just the opposite. Recently, the railways have surrendered 50 percent of its posts, which means that there will no longer be any appointment on these posts.
Rahul Rao, the National Media In-charge of the Indian Youth Congress, said, “First the demonetisation, then the wrong implementation of GST and decisions like the unthoughtful lockdown by the Modi government ruined the country’s economy. Millions of youth are unemployed due to the inefficiency of Modi government and its incapability in providing employment. National President Srinivas B.V. and National In-charge of Youth Congress Krishna Allavaru ji will lead the activists by visiting state, district and block headquarters across the country. Youth Congress workers will also hold dharnas in every village and form a human chain of unemployed youth. During this time, videos of unemployed youth will also be played on social media, thus exposing the anti-youth policies of the central government. In this movement, the IYC will also organize sit-in demonstrations and agitations across the country with the following demands: –
Posts lying vacant in various government departments should be filled immediately.
Privatization of railways and other government institutions should be stopped immediately.
During the duration of the current pandemic, the unemployed youth should receive financial help.
Restrictions on posts being abolished in government departments.
Work towards government recruitments stuck in the court case.
In this Corona era, the government should provide financial assistance to unemployed youth, but on the contrary, posts are being abolished by government departments. Other government sector companies, including railways, are being privatized at a rapid pace, due to which the younger generation will have to bear the brunt. Under this “Rozgar Do” campaign, the voices of the unemployed youth will be amplified all over the country. Their views will be shared. The voice of the youth will be raised in a non-violent and democratic way on the roads. Anti-youth policies of the Central government will be highlighted among the youth of the country through social media and other mediums.
Rao further said that the “Rozgar Do” campaign is an attempt to pressurise the government to wake up from their deep slumber and take decisions about the future of the youth and provide employment.
