Ashok Kumar Former Legislature, Ramban and Senior Congress leader of Jammu and Kashmir has urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to register 20,000 medical assistants diploma holders in the Pharmacy Council of India so that they could get license and able to run their own medical shops and generate employment in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued here, he said,

“After the state of Jammu and Kashmir got bifurcated into two union territory the state pharmacy council has been abolished and Indian pharmacy laws are being implemented in UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The students of medical assistants holding diploma in pharmacy are not able to get license as the medical assistant diploma is not registered in Indian Pharmacy Council. It is a great injustice to the students who are the future of our nation. Moreover, it is the crucial time to increase the infrastructure and human capital in the domain of medical spaces”.

Ashok has said that the future of 20,000 young students and others is at stake. These young students are protesting against the government from the last six months but unfortunately government has not paid any heed towards them. This is the best opportunity for government to increase employment rate in Jammu and Kashmir as the rate of unemployment is certainly going to rise post-covid-19 pandemic.

Ashok has appealed to the government of Jammu and Kashmir to immediately register all medical assistant diploma holders of Jammu and Kashmir in the Pharmacy Council of India in order to save the future of young generation. He said it becomes imperative to include these medical assistant diploma holders in Indian Council of Pharmacy to maintain the smooth function in this unprecedented covid-19 times.
