Punjab Sprinter Gurindervir Singh Inspires Young Athletes in Jalandhar Ahead of Record-Breaking Feat

Just two days prior to achieving a historic milestone on the athletics track, national record holder Gurindervir Singh engaged with aspiring young female athletes in Jalandhar, Punjab. He shared words of encouragement, urging them to dedicate themselves to rigorous training and to pursue their aspirations with unwavering belief.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the promising athletes, who had successfully cleared the Punjab Institute of Sports (PIS) trials approximately two months earlier, were engaged in their practice sessions at the grounds of Government Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar. During their training, athletics coach Sarabjeet Singh Happy, who had previously coached Gurindervir Singh, facilitated a telephone conversation between the young girls and the star sprinter.

In Punjabi, Gurindervir Singh conveyed a motivational message: “Tusi vi ethe takk pahunchna hai, khoob mehnat kro, main vi ethe hi khed-da si,” which translates to, “You too have to reach this level. Work very hard. I also used to play here once.” At that specific moment, the girls viewed Gurindervir Singh primarily as a talented athlete. However, merely two days later, he ascended to become India’s fastest man, capturing national attention through widespread media coverage and social media buzz following his exceptional performance that rewrote national record books.

Coach Sarabjeet Singh Happy remarked on the remarkable timing of the event, stating, “Just two days later, he became the best in the country and was everywhere in the news. The girls couldn’t have been happier.” During his interaction with the young trainees, Gurindervir Singh thoughtfully reminded them that he, too, had once honed his skills on the very same grounds where they were now striving to achieve their dreams.

Concluding the call, he offered his best wishes for their future endeavours, promising to see them all soon. These parting words have since become a significant source of motivation and inspiration for the burgeoning athletes who were fortunate enough to hear them.
