The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory detailing cut-off timings for convoys participating in the upcoming Buddha Amarnath Yatra. The directives are aimed at ensuring the smooth and safe passage of pilgrims travelling between Jammu and Poonch districts.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the advisory will be in effect from August 17 to August 28, 2026, specifically for Yatra convoys and registered pilgrims. The regulations cover both the outbound journey from Jammu to Poonch and the return journey from Poonch to Jammu, establishing specific departure and arrival windows at various transit points.
Regulated Movement for Pilgrims
For the journey from Jammu towards Poonch, the Yatra convoy must depart from the Base Camp Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu no later than 5:00 AM. Subsequent timings are scheduled as follows: arrival at Transit Camp Sunderbani by 10:30 AM, Traffic Control Post (TCP) Nowshera by noon, Transit Camp Rajouri by 1:00 PM, Manjakote by 2:00 PM, and finally Bhimber Gali by 3:00 PM. These timings are critical for maintaining an organized flow of traffic.
The advisory also outlines stringent cut-off timings for the down-convoy, which will travel from Poonch back to Jammu. Pilgrims and drivers must reach Dundak Surankote by 11:00 AM. The convoy is then expected at Bhimber Gali by noon, Manjakote by 1:00 PM, Transit Camp Rajouri by 2:00 PM, TCP Nowshera by 3:00 PM, and Transit Camp Sunderbani by 4:30 PM. Adherence to these timings is paramount for the operational efficiency of the Yatra management.

The Traffic Police headquarters in J&K has stressed the importance of strict compliance with the prescribed timings by all concerned parties. The aim is to prevent disruptions and facilitate a secure pilgrimage experience for devotees undertaking the journey to the Buddha Amarnath shrine.
