Prior to the transfer, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the local police had taken initial steps in the investigation. The SIT had successfully arrested six individuals in connection with the case. Among those apprehended are the teacher accused of rape and a nurse believed to be involved in the pregnancy termination procedure. The arrests were made as part of the ongoing efforts to gather evidence and establish the sequence of events.

The decision to transfer the probe to the Crime Branch was communicated by the Police Headquarters. Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch, Sarah Rizvi, acknowledged receipt of the official communication.
