Lucknow has experienced a noticeable drop in temperature, accompanied by a sudden chill, in the aftermath of unseasonal rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued its forecast for the coming week, indicating a return to warmer conditions after the brief respite from rain.
The unseasonal showers brought a temporary reprieve from the rising temperatures, causing a pleasant, albeit brief, dip in the mercury. Residents of the Uttar Pradesh capital experienced cooler weather than anticipated for this time of year.
According to the IMD’s forecast, after the current spell of rain, the weather in Lucknow is expected to transition towards clear skies. While Wednesday, April 8, 2026, might see continued light rain, particularly at night, the subsequent days are predicted to be predominantly sunny. The temperature is forecast to gradually climb from the mid-60s Fahrenheit (around 17-20 degrees Celsius) at the beginning of the week to highs potentially exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit (around 38 degrees Celsius) by mid-April.
Humidity levels are also expected to decrease significantly as the week progresses, dropping from around 80% on Wednesday to as low as 7% by Saturday, April 18. This shift indicates a return to dry and warmer weather conditions typical for the season.
The IMD’s prediction suggests a gradual increase in daytime temperatures throughout the week, with Saturday, April 18, potentially reaching the year’s highest temperatures so far, soaring up to 109 degrees Fahrenheit (43 degrees Celsius). Nighttime temperatures are also expected to rise correspondingly.
