A 30-year-old police constable allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle inside a stationary police patrolling vehicle on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at the busy Jagat Circle in Kalaburagi city, Karnataka.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the deceased has been identified as a constable attached to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) wing. He was reportedly inside the patrol van when the incident took place. The patrol van was stationary at the time of the alleged suicide.
The circumstances leading to the constable’s death are currently under investigation by the police. Authorities were alerted to the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Emergency services were dispatched to the location, and the area around Jagat Circle was cordoned off as investigations commenced.
The Kalaburagi police have initiated a formal inquiry into the matter. Initial reports suggest that the constable used his service rifle for the act. Senior police officials have visited the site and are overseeing the investigation. Further details are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
