A staff nurse, Nidhi Sehgal, aged 32, sustained a minor injury to her hand while attempting to intervene and protect Patel. Kashish Patel was pronounced dead around 2 PM, while Sehgal is receiving treatment.

The motive behind the attack is currently under investigation. Police suspect that the incident may be the result of a one-sided relationship, with preliminary findings suggesting Singh was allegedly obsessed with the victim. However, some fellow students have claimed that the two were in a relationship and had an argument prior to the attack. Authorities are verifying these claims.

Protests and College Response

The brutal killing triggered immediate protests by paramedical students at the college, who demanded swift and strict action against the accused. In response to the incident, the principal of the medical college, Dr. Sangeeta Aneja, declared a high alert within the campus. A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the sequence of events, review the existing security arrangements, and assess the circumstances that led to the attack. The committee is expected to submit its report within two days.

Kashish Patel, originally from Bareilly, had been residing in Pilibhit for the past ten months for her training. Sagar Singh, who hails from Kanpur, was a fellow student in the paramedical courses. Police have registered a murder case against Singh, and he is currently in custody. Investigators are examining all possible angles, including personal enmity, and reviewing CCTV footage and eyewitness statements to piece together the events leading to the fatal assault.

Superintendent of Police (Pilibhit), Sukirti Madhav, confirmed that a murder case has been registered against Sagar Singh. He added that the victim’s family had not yet lodged a formal complaint as they were occupied with the autopsy and funeral rites, but an FIR would be registered once a complaint is received.
