NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday unequivocally rejected the establishment of a Pakistan-China Boundary Joint Commission, asserting that it held no legal standing and that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were integral and inalienable parts of the country.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated India’s stance on the matter was clear and consistent, further emphasizing that no recognized boundary exists between Pakistan and China.
“We reject the so-called Joint Commission, which is without any legal basis,” Jaiswal stated in response to media inquiries. He added that Pakistan lacked the legal standing to engage in agreements concerning Indian territory which it held under illegal and forcible occupation.
The MEA spokesperson reiterated India’s long-standing position of never having recognized the 1963 China-Pakistan Boundary Agreement, consistently maintaining its illegality and invalidity. India, he stressed, resolutely opposes any attempts to alter the status of the occupied territories or legitimize what it describes as illegal occupation, asserting that such actions infringe upon India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Any so-called boundary cooperation between China and Pakistan concerning Indian territories would be completely unacceptable and would have no bearing whatsoever on India’s sovereignty over these territories,” the spokesperson declared. India urged Pakistan to vacate all areas under its illegal and forcible occupation.
This firm assertion from New Delhi comes amidst reports concerning the Pakistan-China Boundary Joint Commission, which India has consistently dismissed as lacking legal validity. The Indian government’s stance underscores its unwavering commitment to its territorial integrity and sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, territories it considers as its own and not subject to any external claims or agreements made by other nations concerning areas under their occupation.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson’s remarks highlight India’s principled stand on territorial disputes and its rejection of any arrangements that seek to legitimize occupation or alter established boundaries without its consent.
