Bel Powley, Rob Delaney to Star in BBC Sounds Podcast ‘Sober Companion’

British actress Bel Powley and American comedian Rob Delaney are set to lead a new podcast series for BBC Sounds titled ‘Sober Companion’. The series, which explores themes of addiction and recovery, will also feature Sharon Horgan as an executive producer.

The Chenab Times has learned that ‘Sober Companion’ will follow the story of Tim, a recovering addict played by Delaney. His new role involves escorting pop star Lucy Green, portrayed by Powley, on a journey to a rehabilitation facility.

Podcast Premise and Talent

‘Sober Companion’ promises a narrative that balances the challenges of addiction with the often-unpredictable world of a music celebrity. Powley, known for her roles in ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’, and Delaney, celebrated for his work on ‘Catastrophe’ and ‘Bigger’, bring considerable acting and comedic talent to the audio format.

The involvement of Sharon Horgan, the creator and star behind the acclaimed series ‘Catastrophe’, further bolsters the project’s appeal. Horgan’s sharp wit and nuanced storytelling are expected to infuse ‘Sober Companion’ with a similar blend of humor and heart.

BBC Sounds’ Growing Audio Slate

The BBC Sounds platform has been actively expanding its original podcast content, aiming to attract a diverse audience with a range of genres and original programming. ‘Sober Companion’ fits into this strategy by offering a character-driven drama with potentially significant social relevance.

Details regarding the release date and the full cast list for ‘Sober Companion’ are expected to be announced by the BBC in the coming months. The podcast is anticipated to be a significant addition to the audio landscape, leveraging the star power of its leads and the creative vision of its executive producer.
