On Sunday, officials found the carcass of a female leopard in the Mendhar area of Poonch district.
Locals discovered the carcass at Kasblari Mohalla, near a primary school in Mendhar, and reported it to the police and the Wildlife Department, according to them.
Later, crews from the police and the wildlife department arrived on the scene and transferred the body for an autopsy.
Mustaq Ahmed, the wildlife warden for the Rajouri Poonch Range, said that an investigation has been initiated.
