Keanu Reeves Resurfaces in Viral Video Presenting Preity Zinta’s First Award
Chandigarh, Dec 21 – A resurfaced video of Hollywood star Keanu Reeves presenting Bollywood actor Preity Zinta with her first award at the 1999 Zee Cine Awards has gone viral, rekindling nostalgia among fans.
The clip, widely shared on social media platforms, shows Reeves, then a member of the rock band Dogstar, presenting the ‘Best Female Debut’ trophy to Zinta for her performance in Soldier. Reeves, dressed in a traditional Indian kurta, delivered the award alongside his bandmates Bret Domrose and Robert Mailhouse.
The video, originally shared on a Facebook page titled Indians on Internet over the weekend, has garnered thousands of views and comments. In August, Zinta herself had posted the same clip on Instagram to mark 23 years in the film industry.
“This video takes me back to the first award I won in the first year of my cinematic journey. I was so shocked I won. It felt like a dream,” Zinta wrote in the accompanying caption. Expressing gratitude, she acknowledged fans, colleagues, and critics who supported her through her career.
At the time, Reeves was known for his role as bassist and backing vocalist for Dogstar, an alternative rock band that performed at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony. Dogstar, which remained active until 2002, added a unique global flair to the event.

Zinta went on to become one of Bollywood’s leading actors, known for hits like Dil Se, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Veer-Zaara, cementing her place in the industry.
