Srinagar – In a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended a notorious female drug peddler in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir. The arrest took place following a targeted operation aimed at eradicating the menace of drugs from the community.
According to an official statement issued by the police, the arrest was made after the authorities received reliable information about the presence of contraband substances in a residential house in Trikanjan Boniyar, a locality in Baramulla. In response to this information, a police team from Police Station Boniyar, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Boniyar and under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Uri, conducted a raid on the specified house.
During the search operation, law enforcement officials discovered approximately 60 grams of a substance resembling heroin, which is considered contraband. The individual in possession of this illicit substance has been identified as Farhat Begum, who is also known as “Fancy.” She is the wife of Rayees Ahmad Khan and is a resident of Trikanjan Boniyar. Ms. Farhat Begum was promptly taken into custody and has been relocated to Police Station Boniyar.
In response to this incident, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Boniyar, and an investigation into the matter has been initiated. The police have encouraged the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities in their vicinity by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112. The authorities have requested the cooperation of the community in their efforts to combat the scourge of drugs and have assured the public that stringent legal action will be taken against those involved in criminal activities.
