In a significant operation, the Budgam Police reported the dismantling of an illegal trade network involved in the sale of counterfeit gold biscuits. Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with the illicit activity.
As per police, the information was received on November 28, the Police Station Khansahib acted upon credible intelligence indicating the participation of a group of individuals in the unlawful trade of counterfeit gold biscuits.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, law enforcement intercepted a suspect vehicle bearing registration number JK04F/5047 near the Gogjipathri crossing in the Khansahib area. The three occupants of the vehicle were identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar (son of Ab. Ahad Dar, resident of Malwa Kunzar), Farooq Ahmad Dar (son of Gh. Mohammad Dar, resident of Arizal Khansahib), and Shabir Ahmad Dar (son of Jalalu din Dar, resident of Arizal Khansahib).
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 239 gold-like biscuits suspected to be counterfeit. The accused individuals were unable to provide evidence supporting the authenticity of the items, resulting in their immediate arrest.
The incident has been documented under Case FIR No.163/2023, with relevant sections of the law applied, at Police Station Khansahib. The investigation into the matter has been initiated to unveil the full extent of the illegal operation.
Preliminary findings indicate that the arrested individuals were allegedly selling these fake gold biscuits to unsuspecting buyers at inflated prices, thus engaging in fraudulent practices.
