Five Indian Army soldiers and a Special Police Officer (SPO) were injured in a nocturnal gunfight with militants in the Bhaderwah’s Chattargala area of Doda district early Wednesday morning, according to police officials.
The incident occurred around 1:45 AM when a joint Naka (checkpoint) comprising army and police personnel engaged with militants in the region. The ensuing firefight resulted in five army soldiers and one SPO sustaining bullet injuries.
The injured personnel were promptly transported to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
Officials reported that the area has seen no fresh exchange of fire since the initial engagement, but comprehensive search operations are ongoing to locate any remaining militants.
