Again a terrible road Accident, today we see again an unnatural accident happen on Kishtwar road. This is not the first we are observing an accident. From last two months on Kishtwar road almost 4-5 accidents and we got loss of more than 50 lives and hundreds becomes handicapped.

Some highlight about accidents in August-September 2018 on Thathri-Kishtwar Highway:

• On 20 August 2018 (reference) Yatra Accident occurred on Kulighad kishtwar due to stone shooting (Landslide) where 5 died and others were injured. reference)

Immediately after it a smashed collusion between a yatra vehicle and a carrier vehicle happened on same day in Thathri town of Doda.

•  Again on 21 August 2018 (reference)another accident in kishtwar district near Dool area happened.

• Again on 9 Sep 2018(reference) a bus collided with ECO van at Fagumar on Kishtwar highway.

• Now again 14 Sep 2018(reference), an accident of Minibus occurred at Thakrie (Kishtwar district) where we lost 17 lives and many others injured.

Now from these reports two things comes in mind:

• Why these uncontrolled accidents happen again and again?
• Who is responsible for these accidents?

On behalf of my opinion there are two things responsible for it:

1. Conditions of Roads.
2. Low strictness of traffic rules. 

Condition of roads

If we look at the condition of roads in chenab valley especially where these tragedic accidents took place, there we see the worst condition of road mostly from Thathri town(Doda district) to Padder (Kishtwar district) in which most area of road is occupied by big rocks and boulders and also we see many spots road is without Black Top. No proper work on these roads done still. Because if proper work is done then how can these local contractors for this highway become rich. Politicians starts condolences and public heart become melt. Thats the primary reason of accident. So the drastic condition of these roads are responsible.
This road is called National highway (NH244) and it looks like a road whose construction is just started but this road is 65+ years old. The shooting stones; These shooting stones are common in chenab valley roads. These stones leads big accidents. No proper solution taken still by the government for this.

Low strictness towards Traffic Rules:

If we look traffic rules strictness in our chenab valley its too weak many areas. Traffic challans violaters seasonally in random days of month like the new season comes after months every year. This weakness cause overloading which ultimately cause accident. As we have an example of such incident on Kahara road where this overloading cause a big accident.

Two things are responsible for this weakness.
1. Traffic police; It never take strict action against overloading or the vehicles which are not able to carry passengers. They comes seasonally.
2: Public itself; Yes because they either don’t know about traffic rules and why they are important to us or knowingly or unknowingly they enters in those vehicles in which seats are already packed/booked. They supposed to stand up for hours. For this reason of overloading, traffic police must be challan passengers instead of drivers.
