Four Members of Bakerwal Family Perish as Tree Collapses on Their Tent in Kishtwar Woods

A devastating incident occurred in the Bahlna forests of Kishtwar district last night, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives as a tree toppled onto a makeshift tent. The victims have been identified as Nazir Ahmed (55), his wife Anwar Begum (42), Shama Begum (26), wife of Shoket Ahmed, and Shakeel Banoo (17), all residents of district Kathua.

According to officials, the calamity struck amidst fierce gusts of wind and relentless downpour in the area at approximately midnight. The unsuspecting Bakerwal family had taken refuge in their temporary shelter when the tree, unable to withstand the force of nature, came crashing down upon them. The impact proved fatal for all four individuals, leading to their untimely demise.

In response to this tragic incident, the authorities have taken immediate action. Station House Officer Kishtwar, Abid Bukhari, has confirmed the registration of a case pertaining to the incident. This step aims to initiate a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal occurrence, ensuring a comprehensive examination of all relevant factors.
